As you will have seen from the news, the Government have made it mandatory for all sports and leisure facilities, including those clubs running outdoor team sports, to display an NHS Track and Trace app QR code.
We would encourage everyone to follow Government advice and use the NHS track and trace app to help stop the spread of covid this winter.
We appreciate that not everyone has a smart phone, and that not everyone will want to use the app (for a variety of reasons) but hope that the majority of you will do.
The venues that we use regularly will have a QR code clearly displayed near the pitches and each AFC Waverton coach has been issued with a back up QR code to use if they attend a fixture where there is no code – like an away fixture. Not strictly relevant to a specific address this will still help us track down those present at the fixture easily.
The coaches, and indeed the club, have no access to the data so won’t know who has scanned and who hasn’t. We will therefore make sure that our register of attendees will continue, as it has since grassroots football was able to return.
We want to do everything we can to make sure that grassroots sport is not subject to further restrictions, as we are sure you do too.
Our coaches will make an effort to point out the QR code to everyone each session.
Some of our venues have already brought in no spectator rules so please watch from your car where possible. Please observe social distancing rules when chatting to others, in groups of six or less.
Please encourage your players to socially distance before and after the sessions. We know that some children are in school bubbles so it is a mixed message but not all their team mates will be in the same bubble.
We also appreciate that some of our players are registered in other clubs and academies, however all players will be in one AFC Waverton team bubble for the moment to limit the extent of the impact if a player should be unfortunate to test positive.
And finally, for those utilising Waverton Queens Field, please be aware of the number of children using the play area and limit time/access accordingly.
Thank you for all your help and support to ensure that we can keep our players safe out on the field. Take care and stay safe.
